Anyone else keeping up with the Rosary in a Year podcast this year? šš» Iāll admit, Iām often guilty of mumbling through my morning rosaries, distracted and hurried. Recently something shifted for me (perhaps inspired by the podcast) that has inspired me to meditate more fruitfully while in prayer.
When I was 4 or 5 years old, my mom was an elementary teacher. About once a week sheād bring home a few books for my little sister and me from her school library. Iād spot a new book peaking out that old canvas bag & it was like Christmas! Before bed, sheād sit us close and share the stories with us. Those simple but intimate moments have stuck with me to this day.
Now, when I pray my rosary, I imagine resting my head on my Heavenly Motherās lap as she tenderly plays with my hair and walks me through each mystery of the Rosary, as if telling me her own first hand account. Like my Mom did, Mary sits me close and shares stories. In my imagination, she tells me the behind the scenes details that only a beloved mom would know- what things looked like at the Ascension, how she felt when she finally found her son at the Templeā¦Like those book nights with my mom, itās not just the stories that thrill my heart but the intimate time with a loving Momma. How lucky are we that at the cross, Jesus gave us his Mom to mother us all!? š¤
